"Я хочу рассказать о практике Кундалини йоги, к которой западный человек получил доступ совсем недавно, менее 40 лет тому назад.
Книги по философии Кундалини йоги пришли к нам давно, а сама практика оставалась под строгим секретом, её не преподают открыто даже в Индии, мастера передают учение избранным. Всё, что доходило до широкой аудитории - это слухи и пугалки (вполне естественный ореол любой тайны).
Западный мир получил возможность практиковать Кундалини йогу благодаря Мастеру из Индии Сири Сингх Сахибу Йоги Бхаджану, рискнувшему учить открыто, да еще и за пределами Индии. Он начал учить в Канаде и Америке в 1969 году. Сейчас центры Кундалини йоги школы Йоги Бхаджана есть в 40 странах мира.
Йоги Бхаджан начал учить на западе, познакомившись с представителями движения хиппи, которые пытались достичь переживания расширенного состояния сознания используя наркотики, а попадали в химическую зависимость и погибали от этого. Он дал им практику, которая позволяет переживать опыт расширения сознания, сохраняя здоровье и адекватность в социальной среде. Многие из тех бывших хиппи сейчас стали основателями школ йоги в разных странах мира, они свободны от наркотиков, имеют семьи и учат здоровью и вдохновению многих людей. Их диски с мантрами (духовными стихами, положенными на музыку с особым ритмическим рисунком) пользуются огромной популярностью.
В Россию школу Кундалини йоги открыл Яков Маршак в 1991 году. Сейчас в Москве работают несколько центров, где можно заниматься кундалини йогой с разными преподавателями, выбрав удобный день и время.-Так что же представляет собой эта практика, что там происходит на классах?
Элементы практики - это медитации и мантры, динамические и статические упражнения, дыхательные техники и релаксации. В Кундалини Йоге эти элементы сплетены в тонкую и точную технологию и используются на каждом занятии.
В основу практики положены крийи - последовательность динамических, статических упражнений и релаксаций, направленная на достижение конкретного эффекта (например, крийя облегчающая прохождение энергии вдоль позвоночники или крийя для высвобождения накопленной боли.)
Каждый класс начинается с пения инициирующей мантры, которая через вибрацию верхнего нёба активизирует работу гипофиза, что позволяет повысить чувствительность, улучшить концентрацию внимания на внутренних сигналах и ощущениях, а кроме того делает занятие более комфортным, т.к. увеличивается количество эндорфинов (гормона удовольствия). Затем пранаяма, разминка для позвоночника, растяжки, сама крийя и большая релаксация. В зависимости от выполняемого комплекса упражнений медитация либо предшествует релаксации, либо делается после. Завершается занятие пением заключительной мантры.-Что это даёт?
Это позволяет пережить опыт тончайших состояний, прикоснуться к Бесконечности в самом себе, раскрыть новые просторы для контакта с окружающим миром и с самим собой. Кроме того, технология Кундалини Йоги позволяет лучше осознавать свои чувства и мысли. В процессе практики более ярко проявляется способность наблюдать за своей внутренней и внешней реальностью, быть честным с самим собой. Помимо классов и занятий дома практикующий на определённом этапе знакомится с йогической нумерологией, целительским искусством и совершенствует практику через преподавание.-Кундалини йога, как духовный путь - это практика "домохозяина", а не санъясина, т.е. она предполагает нашу жизнь в социуме, а не направлена на отдаление от мира. Тот, кто практикует кундалини йогу использует жизнь "в миру" как отражение своего духовного пути - насколько он стал выносливее, насколько его отношения с окружающими находятся в гармонии, насколько он удерживает мир и покой в душе в разных жизненных ситуациях. Это не просто и требует задействовать ресурсы религиозного знания, философии и психологии, особенно здесь на западе, где сложно найти настоящего духовного проводника.
В основе дисциплины пути - Садхана - подъём до рассвета и медитация, что позволяет использовать время, когда энергетические каналы наиболее чисты, и можно распознать переживание тончайших энергий Бесконечности. it contains KY warm-ups, Two Transformer Sets, a very powerful set called Born Free, Deep Relaxation, a Beautiful Gobinday Chant and then a surprise - a more powerful yet Purify Your Past Set.
The warm-ups include traditional exercises we learned in other Ana and Ravi's DVDs - stomach grinds, spinal flexes, twists, rag doll, etc - all very pleasant.
The Transformer 1 and Transformer 2 sets include exercise that work both emotional and physical, some are done standing, some sitting, some lying down - movements include second position plie squats with arm and breath movements (modifications are offered), navel center exercises (leg lifts and a modification of a stretch pose), etc. I really like the commentary - Ana and Ravi explain how these movements work on both physical and emotional levels.
Then comes the Born Free part with two exercises, both with the same breath pattern - inhale through puckered lips, exhale through the nose - the first one designed to evoke and transform inner anger (and it's also excellent for the lymphatic system) and the second one to help one be focused and fearless.
Nice long Deep Relaxation follows, and then we do the beautiful Gobinday chant.
The main workout seems to end there - credits follow, then the breath primer - and then another set came on - Purify Your Past. The exercises in this set were definitely challenging and I think really powerful. They are designed to get rid of holding patterns in the past and "everything we no longer need" (on a physical level they'll make your shoulders and upper body stronger than any number of push-ups).
The set is the same as in the latest 3 DVD releases - beach scene, blue skies, lush greens.

Here is an overview of the meditations and times:
TUNE-IN and BASIC SAT NAM MEDITATION: 3 mins. 40 seconds.
The usual tuning in(chanting "Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo") Then seated, inhaling thinking "sat" exhaling thinking "nam".
BREATH PURIFICATION SERIES: 14 mins. 20 seconds
you block right nostril with right thumb and do Long Deep Breathing through left nostril. Block left nostril with right little finger and do Long Deep Breathing through right nostril. Then alternate nostril breathing. Then inhale through both nostrils, hold breath while contracting the lower muscles(mula bandha). Then exhale and hold breath out with mula bandha. Then some Long Deep Breathing. Next you interlace hands over solar plexus and inhale through puckered lips and exhale through nose. Interlace hands at sternum level, palms down. Breath of Fire(rapid breathing through nose) moving arms up and down radpidly. Then Breath of Fire with arms raised at 60 degree angle, thumbs up. Then palms together overhead with Long Deep Breathing.
OPENING THE THIRD EYE: 6 minutes 30 seconds
you focus your gaze up and in toward the brow breathing long and light through the nose. Inhale 3 sniffs through nose, then turn head, then exhale back to center(repeating this sequence) for several minutes. Then you do forward bend with Long Deep Breathing and then back to seated.
ALL AND EVERYTHING MEDITATION: 11:00
you start seated and twist from the torso side to side with your arms freely following. Then you sit and inhale thinking "sat nam"(means truth within you or my name is truth) 16 times and exhale thinking "wha hay guru"(means ecstasy beyond words) 16 times breathing long and light through the nose.
ELIMINATE STRESS AND SELF-BLESS: 9 minutes 20 seconds
for women you raise your left hand, thumb and ring fingertip meeting. Your right hand is in your lap thumb and little fingertip meeting. For men you reverse this(raise right hand; left hand in lap.) And you breath long and light through your nose.
MEDITATION FOR TRANQUILITY: 8 min.
your thumbs are fingerprint to fingerprint facing sternum. Your middle fingers are also meeting fingerprint to fingerprint pointing straight ahead. Your index fingers are knuckle to knuckle folded. Then you inhale holding your breath thinking "sat nam" in a rhythm they do as a voice over. And you exhale doing the same. (This was a meditation taught by Buddha that they shared in one of their newsletters...it's great to have it demonstrated).
REWRITE THE BOOK OF YOUR LIFE: 11:00 min.
you have your hands at sternum level 6 inches in front of your body, right hand over left, palms facing up. Then you inhale and visualize blue light around hands thinking "har har wha hay guru". You hold your breath as long as you can and after exhaling you hold your breath out as long as you can.
MEDITATION FOR TOTAL REGENERATION: 5 minutes 30 seconds
in this one you inhale and exhale through puckered lips while mentally repeating "sa ta na ma" while touching each finger to your thumb with each syllable.
DEEP MEDITATION INTO STILLNESS: 10 minutes 25 seconds
your hands are in your lap and you envision hearing "wha hay guru" above your head. There is a song playing during this meditation of "wha hay guru"....amazing song!
Then there is a GUIDED RELAXATION for 5 mins. 38 seconds. And a BEAUTIFUL HEALING MANTRA CHANT(Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Say So Hung) for 6 mins. 40 seconds. Then of course the CLOSING PRAYER.
Breath Primer, Sitting Primer, and Mantra Primer. Also a Commentary on Meditations that gives the background, purposes, and benefits of each meditation. Then there are also two extended meditations: a 31 minute All and Everything Meditation and a 31 minute Deep Meditation Into Stillness.

It starts with the usual TUNING-IN(chanting "ong namo guru dev namo"). Then onto:
SOLAR POWER PART 1: 13 minutes 27 seconds
you start seated doing spinal grinds(moving your spine in a circle), neck rolls, then lying on your back with one leg raised doing Breath of Fire(rapid breath through the nose), a cat/cow(on your hands and knees) sequence, snaking cobra, and then sitting on your heels flexing the spine. Then on your heels knees wide; twisting from the torso.
SOLAR POWER PART 2: 13 minutes 44 seconds
you are seated with legs extended doing some leg and hip stretches with breathing. Next are hip raises lying on your back, shoulderstand and plough with the Breath of Fire. And you also do a kind of sit-up but you lift your legs(bent) too.
SET FOR SUPER VITALITY: 7 minutes 6 seconds
lying on your back with legs raised to 45 degrees, you criss-cross your legs. Then you do parallel bicycle to further work the abs. Then seated you raise your arms, hands interlaced, over your head with the Breath of Fire and then you place you hands behind you on opposite shoulders.
AWAKEN YOUR SENSES: 15 minutes 38 seconds
this was my favorite sequence! About a third of the way through the exercise, I started to feel ready to stop(and started to feel like I was going to get angry at Ravi. lol), but then it made me feel like when I run on the beach with the ocean air and beautiful sights and sounds, I feel like I can run forever. So, it was incredible to have that feeling from this exercise. Then when it was time to stop I didn't want to! I felt so energetic and like going on. The exercise was done seated with your ring and little fingers curled under the thumb tip. Index and middle fingers pointing up. You alternate moving each arm forward with the Breath of Fire. Then after doing this for several minutes, you bring your arms up parallel to the floor, bent at the elbows. It was amazing.
Then comes the DEEP RELAXATION: 5 minutes 10 seconds. It is so relaxing and restful.
There is a HEART OPENING MANTRA CHANT for 4 minutes 30 seconds. It is "Ra-a Ma-a, Sa Sa Sa Sat, Hari Har Hari Har.
Then it ends with the CLOSING PRAYER(2 minutes)

Sit on heels (modification is sitting cross legged), fingers interlaced at small of back, inhale up, exhale down (use of pillow is ok), as you raise the arms behind the back at a good pace - this is done for about 7 minutes
Tiger claws: sitting cross legged, arms raise and lower from parallel to crossing at the forearms in front of the forehead with tiger claw hands, in rhythm to the BOF, at 6 minutes extend the tongue, then shift into tongue back in, mouth closed, inhale, continue with breath held in for a few seconds, exhale, feel radiant!
Deep Relaxation: (6:22)
Lie on your back, deeply relax, enjoy where you are, where the work delivered you to
This is a nice, lengthy relaxation, so you can really let go and allow the work you did to work for you (as Ravi and Ana often say)
Rock and roll out of it.
1st Meditation/Mantra: Solar Power (11:41)
Sitting cross legged
As you chant Har 4 times, hands come towards one another @ navel, like a silent clap
As you chant Gobinday, Mukunday, Udaray, Uparay, Hariang, Kariang, near Namay, Akamay hands are in prayer pose at the heart center.
This is done by alternating 4 Har chants in between each word above: Har Har Har Har Gobinday, Har Har Har Har Mukunday, with the clapping motion on the Har, prayer pose on the other chants/words.
2nd Meditation/Mantra: Adi Shakti (5:25)
Sitting cross legged
A fabulous mantra! Wonderful music and it draws on really powerful divine feminine energy, compassion and protection from the divine mother.
Hands resting on the sternum as you chant along...words are given onscreen.
Closing Prayer: (1:12)
As always, three breaths to visualize yourself as healthy, happy and fulfilled, then to send healing to someone you know who needs it, then to visualize earth as a place of peace before you chant a long Sat and a brief Nam.

On their website and elsewhere, Ravi and Ana recommend that you begin with the Tune-Up and Breath Primer (optional), do the Warm-Ups, and then select from amongst the Quick Fixes and Quick Sets (these shorter sequences are meant to stand alone as well). There is some overlap amongst the segments--for example, some of the Warm-Ups and Quick Fix sequences appear as part of some of the Quick Sets. However, the transitions are virtually seamless, and all of the practices flow very well. Ravi and Ana frequently make statements about what the exercises are designed to do for you (eg, "according to yoga, this will give you _____"), although they generally don't describe exactly how this process works.
If you've never done yoga before, this DVD might not be the best place to start, as Kundalini yoga is fairly distinct from the more traditional forms of hatha yoga with which most people are familiar. Similarly, if you've practiced yoga but are new to Kundalini, be prepared for something a little different--i.e., most of the exercises will not be recognizable as classic postures, there is a lot more movement, and different breathing techniques are used, particularly the Breath of Fire (although I found that BOF was used a little less here than in some of Ravi and Ana's other videos).
Overall, this is an extremely well-produced, well-organized Kundalini yoga video that is a must-have for Ravi/Ana fans.

**the perfect blend of breath work, yoga, stretching, light cardio and meditation. I feel very worked out, yet completely relaxed after this workout.
**the clean white set. I keep mentioning the set in my latest reviews because in Ravi/Ana's 2009/2010 they use a very fake looking outdoors set that's very distracting.
Some things to be aware of with this workout:
**you should have some experience with yoga before doing this. Ravi gives a few modifications, but not enough for someone completely new to yoga.
**if you're not familiar with the breath of fire or long, deep breathing, you should start with later Ravi/Ana workouts (produced after 2004). Most of their subsequent workouts have a separate section that guide you through breathing.
A very highly recommended workout for anyone wanting a challenging Kundalini yoga workout.

Total Running Time: 90 min.
The AM set begins with a morning prosperity breath meditation: Inhale, hold the breath and pump your stomach to "har" up to 40 times (Ravi says if you can't make 40, "that's okay"); do this for several minutes. The AM set is similar to the warmups on Quick Fixes, but longer and more intense: sufi grinds; spinal flex holding legs, then knees; neck rolls; leg stretches (20 degrees back then forward); and about a minute of frogs. Then begin the set with continuous breath of fire: forward bend; bridge pose; stretch pose; leg lifts (up 90 degrees, spread wide, back, down); tuck pose (knees into chest, head up); arm criss-cross in easy pose; V for victory pose ends the BOF sequence; then a brief corpse. Then the Morning Call chant (Ek Ong Kar) for about 10 minutes; for me, all that BOF and navel work seems to intensify the vibrations of the mantra, which is nice.
The PM set also begins with a breath meditation: inhale 8 nose, exhale 8 mouth, silently chanting sa ta na ma. The exercise set is brief: alternate arm/leg lifts; rock n' roll; spinal flex with shoulder shrugs; and the propeller. The Heart Center Mantra is next (probably my second favorite "sung" mantra after the mantra meditation that ends Dance the Chakras), ad guray namay, etc. This is followed by stomach pumps with the breath held in and out. Hands clasped in front of you, you then pump your arms up overhead and down to chest level rapidly while breathing through puckered lips. Then arms overhead, do BOF through puckered lips, followed by a brief meditation. The relaxation is to a gong sound, and Ravi invites you to imagine yourself floating 3 feet above your body. The ending meditation is Shabd Kriya, also for about 10 minutes, which Ravi says is good for sleep, relaxation or jet lag; inhale 4 counts, hold 16, and exhale 2 to sa ta na ma whahay guru.
The music is perfect -- it ramps up during BOF and arm-pumping sequences, and is quietly supportive and unobtrusive for the rest. The breathwork, chants and meditations are wonderful; even the relaxation is unique and sublime. I find it invigorating, relaxing and spiritual.

- Ravi explains the meaning of the words used in the meditations. When I know what the words mean, it helps me to really concentrate.

In the same style as their previous videos, House Call features Ana alone on screen, practicing on a small rug in an all-white room, while she and Ravi take turns providing voiceover instruction. You'll recognize some of the music and yoga sequences from their previous videos, but there's plenty that's brand new here as well.
Like its sister video, Yoga Quick Fixes, Dr. Yoga House Call has over 3 hours of footage, which provides wonderful variety but can feel a bit overwhelming. The Main Menu offers the following options:

As you can see, House Calls offers sets designed to address more chronic conditions--unlike Quick Fixes, which focuses on more common, transient issues. I also found the practices on House Call to be more active than on Quick Fixes, including more use of Breath of Fire and more arm movements, which made the practices feel pretty challenging at times.
In summary, this is a well-done, well-produced DVD of energizing Kundalini yoga practices.

скрытый текстYoga Beauty Body is being called the perfect yoga workout. It begins with a concise warm-up set and an excellent Breath Primer which makes the popular Breath of Fire a breeze. This workout, includes the Magnificent 7 indispensable daily yoga poses done Kundalini style. This exciting sequence is nonstop, with brief rest intervals. Done in its entirety (60 minutes), it is moderately challenging, yet doable, allowing all levels to participate. As always, Ana & Ravi give modifications for most exercises. Kundalini Yoga works fast! Even after one session you'll feel fabulous! The genius of Ana & Ravi's Kundalini Yoga workouts are that they work on more than just the obvious -lengthening and strengthening all muscle groups--but also work the glands for emotional well being, happiness, more energy, better sex drive, and radiant health. There is something for everyone in this DVD.
The Class begins with a Tune in via a mantra and then moves into a warm up section, I particularly enjoy the warm ups as I feel my mind and body preparing for what is to come. Then there is the kundalini yoga sets which are energising yet calming, and include the 'magnificent 7' which is said to be very beneficial for women to do every day and includes stretch pose, camel pose, shoulder stand with breath of fire and plough pose with breath of fire. I feel encouraged throughout with Ravi's commentary and if I open my eyes at any time I am inspired by Ana who demonstrates beautifully. There is a lovely sa ta na ma meditation lying down on your front and then a final Tune out with a mantra. I feel so blissful and happy when I have worked with this DVD. I have had people comment on how radient i look after doing this dvd!
Ana and Ravi give good, clear instruction, information on the benefits of the postures and demonstration throughout and there is encouragement from Ravi to keep you going.
