Put a fork in your stale workout and open your mind to an alternative where you can have it all: a change, a challenge, and a total body metamorphosis. .-A diverse cardio segment and a kettlebell-based aero/tone section. It’s exceptionally well-planned and “purposeful” — each series is clearly designed to maximize results. You’ll begin with pure fat-burning — a varied mix of kickboxing, bootcamp, plyometrics and sports drills. That’s followed by two aero/tone segments — cardio-speed, kettlebell exercises. The first is lower-body focused; the second works your upper and lower body at the same time (e.g. a low chop combined with a lateral lunge). Yoga-style warm-up and cooldown. Brook Benten is fun; her cuing is clear and precise but not “too serious.” Requires a 10 lb. (or heavier) kettlebell. Brook Benten, M.Ed., is President of Cardiopump Fitness, LLC. A few of her certifications include: ACSM-HFS, ACE Personal Trainer, AFAA Group Fitness Instructor, AFPA Nutrition Consultant, AAAI Yoga, The Method Pilates, and Kettlebell Concepts Instructor. Brook became a Continuing Education Provider for ACE and AFAA in 2003. She is a former Ambassador for Lululemon Athletica. Brook obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise and Sport Science at Texas State University in May 2003, and her Master’s of Education in Physical Education with emphasis in Fitness Management from The University of Houston in Dec. 2004. In 2009, Brook was honored with receiving the SMU President’s Award for Continuing Excellence. She was also the March 2009 “National Wellness Spotlight” for the American College Personnel Association. Growing up in Taylor, TX, Brook Benten was the awkward child who was just downright clumsy when it came to sporting events. She self-proclaimed herself the “Queen of Off-Season.” Although she was hopeless and helpless in organized sport, she loved to move. Brook found her fit in baton twirling. For all of her high school years, she performed at Taylor High School football games as the feature twirler. As she neared the end of her senior year in high school, she knew that she was going to need something big to fill the void of twirling, which she didn’t intend to pursue in college. She found Step Aerobics, and the fit was like a hand and a glove. Brook Benten’s fitness career began in the late 90s with teaching Step Aerobic classes at the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Center. At the time, she never imagined herself teaching anything besides her beloved Step classes. As time passed, and trends changed, she broadened her repertoire to include many different class types… although, in her heart of hearts, Step still holds a special place. Throughout Brook’s undergraduate tenure at Texas State University, she was teaching classes and training instructors for the Department of Recreational Sports as well as serving as Aerobics Coordinator for Fitness Connection in Austin, TX. She later served as Group Exercise Manager for GOLDS Gym International. Throughout graduate school, Brook served the University of Houston as Group Fitness Coordinator. From January 2005 until January 2010, Brook served as Fitness Director at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. Brook Benten left SMU in 2010 to move to Central Texas with her husband, Daniel, and exclusively focus on Cardiopump Fitness. Brook Benten’s professional objective is to teach fun fitness classes that break negative associations to exercise, and catalyze social, emotional, and physical wellness in the lives of others.
